Simple Crochet Preemie Infant Hat

If you love to crochet and have extra yarn left over, make these cute little hats to donate to your favorite charity or neo-natal hospital! There's always a need, and are welcome all over the world!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basic Crochet Skills
  • Crochet Hook, Size F or G
  • Yarn 3-Ply Baby Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Generosity
  1. Step 1

    Chain 26. Turn,

    SC in back loop of each chain across. Ch 1 , turn.

  2. Step 2

    Continue for about 32 or 34 rows or until piece would make a tube the size needed when seamed together. Count each ridge as 2 rows.

    Slip stitch edges to form tube or whip stitch with yarn and yarn needle.

  3. Step 3

    Run a double length of yarn through stitches about ½ inch down from top of tube.

    Pull securely to close off top and tie bow with double knot. Trim ends of yarn.

    Fold up Brim.


    You’re done!!!!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Different weights of yarn make different sizes and that’s fine because there are lots of different size Preemies!
  • Size F (34 rows)
  • Size G (32 rows)

on 8/16/2008 I no a lady in Minnesota that does this for the preemies in the hospital up there. My granddaughter got a Packer knit hat when she was born. She was not a preemie, but it fit for the picture. Her dad however is a Lion's fan.
