Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hands
  1. Step 1

Start with firm but gentle massage at the back of the neck. Move hand in a circular motion.

  2. Step 2

Using the tips of your fingers, tap the back of the neck. Start at the hairline and work your way down to the shoulders. Tap as firmly as is comfortable to the person receiving the massage. Some people prefer a very light touch, while others enjoy a deeper massage.

  3. Step 3

Once you have tapped down to the shoulders, massage your way back up to the hairline using quick, firm, circular motions.

  4. Step 4

Using the side of your palm, tap the massage recipients shoulders in a chopping motion from one side to the other.

  5. Step 5

Using the same chopping motion, start at the base of the neck and lightly "chop" your way to the top of the forehead. Move the top of the right ear and "chop" across the scalp to the top of the other ear. Again, this should be a relatively light movement.

  6. Step 6

Starting at the back of the head, rake your fingers up and over the top of the scalp to the forehead in a firm, massaging motion. Be careful not to get tangled and pull longer hair.

  7. Step 7

Massage in smooth, slow circles from the forehead back to the nape of the neck. Repeat until the massage recipient is sufficiently relaxed or your hands are sufficiently tired.
