Things You'll Need:

  • Dentist referral
  • Substantial budget
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  1. Step 1

Research orthodontists or get a referral. The best way to find the right orthodontist is usually by getting a referral from your general dentist. Or, you can research one on your own.

  2. Step 2

Set up a time for a preliminary appointment. Once you have found an orthodontist, call them and set up a time to come in and meet with the doctor for a preliminary appointment.

  3. Step 3

Meet with the orthodontists and discuss your options. When you meet with your doctor make sure that you ask them any questions that you may have regarding the procedure and daily care as well as total costs of the treatment.

  4. Step 4

Make an appointment to get braces. Now that you have found a doctor and you are armed with knowledge, it is time to take that budget and go and get the pair of braces that you have been wanting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you have your braces make sure that you take good care of them and follow your orthodontist’s cleaning instructions.
  • Keep in mind that there will be certain foods that you cannot eat and that you must take care of your braces several times per day.
