Alphabet flash cards are more than just educational tools. They also make perfect décor for every room in the house, from a child’s bedroom to an adult's study. Here’s how to build a wonderful collection that’s perfect for display.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Set some parameters. Perhaps you only want cards with a certain theme, such as flowers or animals. Maybe you only want cards of a certain size or from a certain era. It’s up to you! If you want to display your cards, however, keep in mind that you want the picture and its corresponding letter to be on the same side of the card.
Step2
Start with something new. Many children’s furniture retailers now offer large, beautiful flash card sets that are perfect for display. Some of our favorites are from Land of Nod, but other retailers have similar offerings.
Step3
Find something old. Online auction sites like eBay are a great place to find antique flash card sets that will add some real character to your collection.
Step4
Keep an eye out for great flash cards when you travel. Some of the best sets come from quirky, locally owned children’s boutiques and art museum gift shops. Even better, this method ensures that every flash card in your collection comes with a memory and a story.
Step5
Don’t travel much? Check out museums’ online gift shops instead, or search for alphabet flash cards on any online search engine.
Step6
Add a few other alphabet-inspired items to your collection to add to the visual impact of your display. Some ideas include bookends shaped like letters, alphabet-inspired artwork or sets of vintage children’s alphabet blocks.
Step7
Display your wonderful new collection. If your flash cards are sturdy, you can prop them on narrow shelves around the room. You can also display the cards in “floating” picture frames, on magnet boards, on plate stands or under a glass table top. Use your imagination, and have fun!
