Pregnancy can be uncomfortable, but there are ways to stay comfortable during bedtime so you can get the much needed rest your body needs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bed
  • A 2- to 4-inch thick foam or latex mattress topper
  • Padded mattress cover
  • One or two body pillows
  • Standard pillow
  • Memory foam pillow
  • Deep pocket sheets (Jersey knit, if possible)
  • Comfortable pajamas
  1. Step 1

Remove all bedding and pillows from your bed. Then begin by placing a thick foam or latex mattress topper on your bed.

  2. Step 2

Place the padded mattress cover over the foam or latex topper and secure around the bottom of your regular mattress.

  3. Step 3

Next, put a deep pocket sheet over the mattress cover and secure around the bottom of the mattress as well. A Jersey knit sheet is very comfortable, if you can find a deep pocket set.

  4. Step 4

Make the rest of your bed, including a flat sheet and your favorite comforter. Place the standard pillow on the bed first and then place the memory foam pillow on top of it.

  5. Step 5

Get yourself ready for bed by following your regular regimen and then slip into a set of really comfortable pajamas. Don’t forget to shut your blinds and curtains and turn off the lights.

  6. Step 6

Climb into bed and position your head pillows until they are comfortable. Then while lying on your side, place one body pillow in front of you. You should use it to support your stomach and arms and also place it between you knees and ankles. If you desire a second pillow, you should place that one behind you to support your back and stop you from rolling onto your back at night.

Tips & Warnings
  • If smells don’t offend you then you can also try using a lavender scented sachet under the pillows for your head.
  • If you need extra help relaxing and can’t stand certain scents, then try playing a sounds of nature CD, or something you would use during meditation.
  • Since you can tend to stay hotter during pregnancy, make sure your bedroom is very cool and comfortable at night.
