Nobody enjoys doing chores, but it is a must if you want to have an organized and clean home, especially when you are expecting company. Your children should chip in and help do the chores, because it helps them learn responsibility and also helps them learn how to clean a home for when they are out on their own as well. While some children may not like the idea of doing chores, you can make it fun so than it can be more enjoyable for them.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask your children what a few of their favorite songs are. Gather about 2 to 3 songs from each of your children. If you only have 1 or 2 children, add in a few of your own as well or let them pick more. Burn a CD or borrow their CD's with their favorite tunes. Play their favorite music and let them dance a little as they clean your home.

Make cleaning a fun contest. Set a timer, and see who can get their jobs done the fastest--while still being clean at the same time. Offer a reward for the winner and perhaps even the runner up. Cook their favorite meal, give them their favorite snack, or purchase a small reward of their choice.

    • 3

Create a poster board with all of the names of your children. Have a rotating set of chores for each child to do each week. When each chore has been completed, put a sticker next to their name. When your children have gotten a sticker for each type of a chore, reward them with a special prize such as a movie, dinner or a small amount of allowance that they can save or buy something for themselves.

Gather your children together and ask them how you could make cleaning fun for them. Take some of their thoughts and opinions into consideration when creating your cleaning schedule. Letting your children have more input, might make them more motivated when helping with chores in the household.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you don't force cleaning upon your children. While it is necessary for them to learn responsibility, you can still let them have some role in the chore planning and let them have fun at the same time. Forcing your children to do chores could possibly make them rebel against you.
