Teaching a child how to walk is one of life's great moments. It is something that will remain with you forever. Read on to learn how to teach a toddler to walk.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A video camera
  • Child's favorite toys
  • Time
  1. Step 1

Make sure your child is ready. If your child is not ready to walk, all the tricks in the world will not make it happen. If they are standing on their own, walking along furniture without really holding on or trying to take steps, than they are likely ready.

  2. Step 2

Find success through teamwork. Sit on the floor with a spouse about three feet apart. Have one of you hold your child standing in front of you. The other should hold out their arms, calling your child's name. Find a way to coax them over to you.

  3. Step 3

If you are alone hold your child's fingers and walk around the room with them. Slowly pull away and let them walk.

  4. Step 4

Place a favorite toy on the floor a few feet away from your child. Make them go get the toy, but don't alone them to crawl and insist that they walk.

  5. Step 5

Wait: Just sit back and let them walk someday. Some children will not respond to any coaxing and will just one day take off.
