The corpse pose (also known as Savasana) is not nearly as morbid as it sounds. Instead, this yoga pose is essential to close a good, long session. It allows your body to truly relax, adjust and prepare itself for the rest of the day.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lay flat on your back, with your legs straight out, and your feet falling gently to the sides. Lay your arms alongside your body, your palms facing upwards. In essence, you're allowing your body to assume a completely neutral but natural position.

  2. Step 2

Slowly but surely, relax every part of your body, one at a time. Start with your toes, and work your way up to your head. Take the time to focus on, and relax, every facet of your body--from your calf to your chin. All the while, breath deeply and slowly from your abdomen.

  3. Step 3

Hold this pose for several minutes. You may fall asleep; don't worry about it. Eventually, however, you should try to enjoy the benefits of meditation without enjoying a cat nap.

  4. Step 4

When you've finished, bend your knees. From there, push yourself over onto one side. And as you exhale, push yourself into a sitting position.
