Taming a gerbil sounds difficult, but doesn't have to be an insurmountable task. Here is how to hand-tame your gerbil without too much fuss.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time
  • Patience
  • Love
  • Understanding of animals
  1. Step 1

When you first acquire your gerbil, it might seem as if he just wants to hide away all the time. This won't last. You must handle your gerbil every day and pet it and hand-feed it to gain its trust in you.

  2. Step 2

If your gerbil bites you at first, don't let this worry you too much. He will soon get used to you and his new environment. Give him time to adjust.

  3. Step 3

Hand-feed and make a fuss of your gerbil each day, he will soon get to know your smell and the way you handle him.

  4. Step 4

Remember, it takes time and patience to tame any creature. The more time and energy that you invest in taming your gerbil; the better your relationship will be.
