Dealing with combination skin problems can be an overwhelming task. Most of the time you aren't sure what to do first. Having skin that is extremely oily in some areas, dry in others, and also sensitive can be a tricky process to handle. With a few tips and a strict schedule, you'll be able to create a skin care regimen for your combination skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Facial cleanser
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer
  • Mask
  • Oil blotting sheets
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Create an easy to follow schedule. This is the most important step when dealing with a skin care issue. Not staying on schedule can cause you to waste time and have ongoing skin problems. Although the right skin care products are an important part, they won't work unless you use them regularly.

  2. Step 2

Cleanse your skin with a non-abrasive product. Using facial cleansers with “beads” can cause more irritation to your skin than needed. Choose a foaming cleanser that will be gentle on your sensitive skin. For regular acne break outs, use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser. It will take care of excess oil without causing your skin to feel too dry.

  3. Step 3

Use an alcohol-free toner for this next step. Alcohol-based toners will definitely dry your skin and cause the oily areas to produce even more oil. For anyone that has ultra sensitive skin, skip the toner step to avoid irritation. There are many toners for combination oily skin.

  4. Step 4

Moisturize your skin. Although you have oily skin, it stills needs moisture. Use a very lightweight lotion that contains a SPF of at least 15. This will help to protect your skin from unwanted sun rays when going outdoors. If you are using an acne medicine and a moisturizer, then allow the acne medicine to dry first before applying the moisturizer.

  5. Step 5

Exfoliate to get rid of any dead skin. This can also be used as a relaxation method on occasion. Use a very mild exfoliating scrub or peel. If you use one that is too abrasive, then it will cause more skin irritation than necessary. Anyone that suffers from sensitive skin should definitely skip this process.

  6. Step 6

Complete your skin care regimen with a mask. There are numerous versions of masks that will help moisturize, fight acne, exfoliate, or even provide a deep cleansing. No matter which one you choose, make sure that it is appropriate for your combination skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always carry oil blotting sheets to get rid of excess oil throughout the day.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin completely hydrated.
  • Never overuse makeup to cover up skin blemishes.
