This is a great way to reuse your wine corks for a useful household item. Note that all the corks need to be the same size or the activity doesn't work.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 wine corks
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
  1. Step 1

Arrange the 8 corks into sets of two.

  2. Step 2

Glue each of the 2 corks together, side to side. You will now have 4 separate sets of glued corks.

  3. Step 3

Assemble the coaster. Take 2 of the sets and glue them together, perpendicular to one another, meaning the tops of one set should be glued to the sides of the other set. Do the same to the other 2 sets.

  4. Step 4

Set the corks together like a checkerboard and glue them together. It should look like the attached image. Note: In the image the corks are not yet glued together.

  5. Step 5

Allow the glue to dry and harden. If you like, you can cut out a piece of cardboard and glue it to the bottom to give the coaster more stability.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hot glue is extremely hot when it first comes out of the gun and will most likely burn your fingers, so be careful!
