1
Find out what the children will be doing prior to going to bed. If they're swimming or going for a bike ride, make sure to have swimsuits or bike helmets and bike in the car to drop off with your child.

2
Pack basic toiletries. Regardless of whether your child sleeps, you'd like to think they've brushed their teeth and washed their face. Pack a travel toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb and washcloth. If your child is a little older, be sure to include deodorant and appropriate skin products.

3
Pack a pillow and sleeping bag, if necessary. Some children have a spare bed that your child will sleep in, but be sure to pack a pillow. Your child will often sleep better if they have their own pillow to sleep on.
-
4
Provide appropriate clothes. Your child will need pajamas and fresh clothes for the morning. Pajamas that are composed of sweatpants or flannel bottoms and a T-shirt are a good choice. Fresh clothes should include top, bottom, underpants, socks and a jacket if the weather requires it.

5
Bring a special animal or doll to minimize nighttime anxiety. As children tire, they might begin to feel anxious sleeping away from home. If your child brings a special animal or doll, it helps ease those anxieties and makes the night more fun for everyone.
