Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Inline skates
  • Protective gear (helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards)
  1. Step 1

Before you start, make sure your inline skates are on properly and tied/strapped for a snug fit. Also, always wear protective gear, your helmet being the most important item!

  2. Step 2

Hold onto something as you begin, if this is your first time inline skating. This can be a wall or another person. This is to get the feel for skating.

  3. Step 3

Make small skating motions with your feet, pushing your skates forward. It's very difficult to balance on inline skates when you're not moving. Each stroke of your foot should be at a small angle heading away from your body.

  4. Step 4

Move your arms around to help you stay centered and steady. Your arms are essential for balance.

  5. Step 5

Start slow and see what works for you. It will be trial and error. The more you practice, the better you'll get, and the easier balancing will come to you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stay clear of traffic when learning how to inline skate. For safety reasons, try skating for the first time in a garage, empty parking lot or empty blacktop playground.
