If you are using Internet Explorer, you can search the Internet by typing your search terms into the address bar. Searching this way uses the default search engine used by Internet Explorer. But what if you are not crazy about the default search engine? No problem. Simply follow these steps to change the search provider in Internet Explorer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open Internet Explorer by clicking its icon on your desktop. Alternatively, click the “Start” button, then “Programs” or “All Programs,” and then choose Internet Explorer from the list of installed programs.
Step2
Click the arrow on the right side of the search box .
Step3
q Click “Change Search Defaults.” The Change Search Defaults dialog box will open.
Step4
If the search provider you want to set as your default search engine is listed in the “Change Search Defaults” list, click on it. Click “Set Default” and then click “OK.”
Step5
If the search provider you want to use as your default search engine is not listed, click “Find More Providers” near the bottom of the dialog box. The Add Search Providers to Internet Explorer page will open.
Step6
Click on the search provider you want to add. You will be asked if you want to add this search provider to Internet Explorer. Select the “Make This My Default Search Provider” check box and click “Add Provider.”
Step7
If the search provider you want as your default search engine is not listed on the page, follow the instructions under “Create Your Own.”
