As with all hip and happening trends, entering into today's scene is the illustrious “emo boy.” What is an emo boy? This term spans from a collective dubbing of a mainstream brand of music known as emo—short for emotional. The overall image of an emo boy is that of multi-layered and highlighted haircuts, tight-fitting jeans and lots of poetry writing. There are some easy ways to talk to emo boys—all you have to do is follow these easy steps.

How to talk to Emo boys

  1. Step 1

Relate to them on their level. Emo boys are all about their underground emo music and the encompassing scene. Start off the conversation by reflecting your interests in their scene and the music that created it.

  2. Step 2

Ask them who their favorite band is and why. The biggest thing on the minds of most emo boys is their favorite bands and how they can associate with them. By simply asking them about their favorite music, you will have opened the door to never-ending conversation.

  3. Step 3

Identify like-minded interests. The best way to keep their attention is to let them know about certain emo songs that you have a liking to and why. You may be surprised at how much they agree with you.

  4. Step 4

Make plans to see a local emo band together. Now that you have enabled expressive conversation---why not ask the emo boy out on a date. The ideal setting will be at a local music venue to see their favorite emo band.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always make sure that you are careful in how you choose your words. Emo boys are emotional, hence the name-branding---the wrong words could cause the conversation to go sour.
  • Never tell them they look like a girl or that you dislike their brand of music.
