Wedding bands are a symbol of love that you want to last forever. Hopefully this article will help you choose the right band if you have different needs or wants.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A directory of local jewelers

Step1
Decide on a price range. Price, I found, is one of the biggest separations in terms of narrowing your selection. It will also help you to identify what retailers operate in your niche market. For example, if you are looking for a premium band and are willing to pay large sums of money you should call several dealers to see if they operate in that niche or in the more conservative area.
Step2
Envision what you'd like your band to look and feel like. If you fail to set maximums and minimums before you enter the store you are more likely to overspend and be more receptive to up-selling by associates.
Step3
Be aware of what types of characteristics distinguish price: carats, type of metal, weight, width, warranty, etc. At this point you should also begin to question the jeweler' s warranty policies.
Step4
Select a proper fit. The right sized band will slide on and tug off. It should not swivel around your finger or take excessive force to put on. Also keep in mind that during the day the size of your fingers change, as do they when you gain/lose weight. Make considerations for these changes that may take place and ask if the ring can be re-sized multiple times.
Step5
Make sure you put all receipts in a safe place and get a copy of the inspection schedule and warranty policies (if applicable). Also, immediately consult an insurance agent to insure your purchase if it is not covered in your homeowners' policy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tungsten is a ideal material for individuals who work in environments where they are at greater risk of getting the band caught (in fans, construction tools, etc). To decrease the risk of accidents, consider tungsten as it is a soft metal which will often fracture under heavy pull or stress. However, tungsten cannot be resized.
