Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer using Microsoft Windows
  • Windows Live Messenger
  1. Step 1

Start Windows Live Messenger. The Messenger sign in the window will open.

  2. Step 2

Enter your email address and password in the correct fields.

  3. Step 3

Select the checkboxes for “Remember Me” and “Remember My Password.”

  4. Step 4

Select the checkbox for “Sign Me in Automatically.”

  5. Step 5

To set your online status to your desired default setting, choose an option from the drop down menu next to “Sign In As.”

  6. Step 6

Click "Sign In." The next time you start Windows Live Messenger, you will be signed in automatically with your desired status.

Tips & Warnings
  • To change your status from the default setting, right click the Windows Live Messenger icon on your taskbar, point to “Status” and select the status setting you wish to use.
  • If you are using a public computer, you should not use this setting as someone else using the computer could sign in with your user name and password.
