      Open Windows Live Messenger. Go to the "Tools" menu.

      Click on "Options" in the "Tools" menu drop down list. The "Options" dialog box will appear. In the white task pane on the left, click "Personal."

      Under "Display Name," type your name as you want your contacts to see it. This may or may not be your full real name; that is up to you.

      Under "Type a Personal Message for Your Contacts to See," enter your own tagline or greeting message.

      Choose whether or not you want to display a picture. If so, click “Change Picture” to upload or select a graphic.

      Decide if you want to create a public profile, how you want your online status to appear and webcam settings.

      When you have the Windows Live Messenger personal information settings adjusted the way you want them, click "OK."
