How to Audtion for the Atlanta Hawks 2008/2009 Dancers

If you are amomg the many who want to become an A-Town Dancer for the Atlanta Hawks there is still time for you to get ready for the auditions. The Atlanta Hawks Dancer auditions will be held on Sunday July 13th through Saturday July 19th. After they have selected their group the first team meeting will be on July 27th.

Step1
In order to audition you must be 19 years old prior to the audition date. You must also have a high school diploma or a GED. They also require that you have a full time or part time job. If you do not have a job then you will need to be a college student at the time of the audition. The preliminary auditions and the predatory classes will be held in the Phillips Arena. The Phillips Arena is located at 1 Philips Drive Atlanta Georgia 30303. You will also have to be ready to pay for parking. The location of the final auditions for the Atlanta Hawks dancers will be announced at a later date. The date and time of the preparatory class will also be announced soon and is usually held several weeks before the preliminary auditions. You will need to check the official Atlanta Hawks website for the information.

On the day of the preliminary tryouts you should make sure to bring a photo, the registration fee, your resume, the application (which can be downloaded from the site), and a copy of your driver's license. So now that you have the basic information how can you prepare to make the final cut at the Atlanta Hawks Dancer Auditions?
Step3
First of all you have to be willing to devote at least 12 hours a week for rehearsals and appearances. During the actual NBA season you can expect the weekly hours to increase but they do not consider it to be a full time job. Practices are usually held in the evenings so your schedule will need to be free. If you miss a rehearsal you risk being cut from the time. In addition to rehearsals, games and appearances the Atlanta Hawks dancers also devote a lot of time to the community and helping at local charity events. In order to fully be prepared for the auditions they recommend that you attend their preparatory clinic. Here you will be able to learn exactly what they are looking for.
Step4
They will also provide you with recommendations on how to prepare your hair and makeup and what to wear to the auditions. You will also need to make sure that you are in top physical condition in order to keep up with the routines that they perform. Judges want to see showmanship, your dancing ability, personality and your speaking ability. They suggest that you have some type of jazz, technical and hip hop dance experience. If you do not than it may be a good idea to take a few classes so that you can learn what you need to be on the dance team. You will also need to have knowledge of the Hawks and know something about basketball.
Step5
They will be looking to see how poised you are and how you can handle yourself during an event when public speaking is require.

By taking the time to get into great physical shape now and preparing properly you should have not problem making it to the final audition. Just remember to allow your personality to full shine when you are at the auditions.
