Tile Adhesive Mess

When you use glue to put flooring down, it's pretty much impossible to not get extra adhesive all over the place. There are many different kinds of tile adhesive and remover. If you are working with laminate floor, use something that won't remove the finish. If you are just removing adhesive from putting down the laminate, you probably don't need adhesive remover--just alcohol. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Adhesive remover
  • Scraper (1 plastic, 1 metal)
  • Rags
  • Alcohol

Instructions

    • 1

Apply the adhesive remover or alcohol using a rag. Apply liberally, as the remover needs to soak into the adhesive to soften it.

    • 2

Use a scraper (plastic is better) to remove the majority of the adhesive. You can get thinner places off better with rags.

    • 3

Remove thinner spots of glue by putting alcohol on with one rag. Take the adhesive off with another dry rag.

Tips & Warnings

  • When finished, clean the laminate flooring with a mop. You never want to get the floor too wet, as the water can get in the seams.

  • You can always add more shine to laminate flooring by putting on a finish, which you can find at janitorial supply places.

  • Be careful while scraping, as you don't want to scrape off the finish of the laminate flooring.
