How to Print on an Envelope Using Ms Publisher

Want to spruce up your letters or cards and add a personal touch? Try printing a photo or clipart pictures on your envelope.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Printer
  • Envelope
  • Ruler
  • Ms Publisher
  • Computer
  • Your Imagination
Step1
Start with blank page sizes. Open Ms Publisher. Click on 'Blank Page Sizes'.
Step2
Choose envelope. At the top middle of the page you will see a list projects in alphabetical order. Find 'Envelope' and click on it.

Creating a custom envelope size. Now measure your envelope and when you are finished scroll down and select 'Create Custom Page Size'.
Step4
Name your template and enter your measurements. When you select 'Custom Page Size' a dialog box will appear. Here you will enter a name for your template and change the size of the envelope to match your measurements. Then click 'Okay'. You can either use the arrows next to the measurments or you can click in the box, delete the default measurments, and type in your own.

Double mouse click on the envelope picture or on the create button. When you click 'Okay' you will notice that your envelope is on the right-hand side of the screen. In order to work with your new size simply double click on the picture of the envelope or click on create at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Choose insert then text box. On the tool bar at the top of the page left mouse click on 'Insert' then on 'Text Box'.

Create a text box. Your mouse pointer will now look like a cross. Left click at the upper left-hand corner of the envelope and while holding down the mouse button, drag the mouse toward the lower right-hand side of the screen until you get your text box large enough to type into then release the mouse button.

Typing and changing fonts. Time to type. Left mouse click once inside of the text box and begin typing your return address. Before you begin typing choose your font and the font size. from the menu bar. Or you can type your address and then select all of your text and then change the font, font size, and font color.

Add recipient's name. Now repeat steps 6 and 7 to add a recipient's name or you can left mouse click once on your current box then go to 'Edit' on the tool bar and select copy. Then go back to 'Edit' and choose paste. This will create a copy of your original text box. To move this box simply left mouse click once on the line of your new box to select it and hover the mouse over one of the lines until the mouse pointer turns into a cross with four arrows. Once you have the cross left mouse click and hold and then drag the box to the center of your envelope. Delete the text from the box and type in your recipient's name.

Choose and insert your clipart. Now for some photos or clipart. For this publication we will be adding clipart. Click on 'Insert' from the menu bar and then select 'Picture' then over to the rigth to 'Clipart. A dialog box will appear to the left of your screen. In the search box type in a keyword such as 'moon'. Publisher will show you a list of clipart photos to choose from.
Step11
Resizing clipart. The clipart will appear in the wrong place or it may be too large or too small. Left mouse and hold and drag the art to where you would like on the envelope. To make it larger or smaller left mouse click and hold the bottom righ-hand corner of the clipart and either drag it in or out to enlarge the photo or make it smaller.
Step12
Finished product. Place as many photos on your envelope as you would like. When you are ready to print, cut a piece of printer paper to the size of your envelope and print a test page before wasting an envelope. Sometimes the envelope size will not be precise so you may have look at your test page and then move your text boxes or clipart over or up or down until you print a test page that looks the way you want it to.
