How to Maintain A Higher Speed on Road Curves

This is how I don't have to slow down much on road curves. This is usually highway curves or curves that aren't sharp. (The sharp ones will usually have a posted speed limit anyway). This must be done with good judgement, however. Read on to find out how I do this.

• road with curves to drive on

1. Notice the curve in front of you. Is it safe to keep going the speed limit on--not slippery, loaded with traffic, or really sharp? If it is safe, good, proceed to the next step.
2. Try to get into the lane the curve is smallest at or as close to the center line as possible. This, in racing, is called getting into the inside lane. Hug the smallest portion of the road that is possible without creating an unsafe situation. (Don't drive on the stop lane on the highway or over the white sideline--just very close to it).
3. Leaning a person's body into the turn can also help. Maybe not extremely a lot of help, but it seems to help with momentum of the turn in my case.
4. Following these steps, the driver should have made it around the turn without slowing down much.

Tips & Warnings

• Drive safely for the particular vehicle.
• Larger vehicles such as trucks, vans, SUV's, semi-trucks, should likely not attempt too much of this as they have a tendency to tip easier. Slow down to a safe speed for the vehicle navigating the curve in that case.
• Slippery snow covered roads, roads under construction, extremely wet roads and other hazards may not make this possible. This is only meant for a dry, safe road.
