Things You'll Need:
- hook
- plastic crawfish
- split shot
- lightweight casting rod
- 8-10 pound line
-
Step 1
Buy plastic crawfish that have colors that mimic real life.
1. Run a "J" worm hook thru exact end of plastic crawfish tail exiting the bottom about 1/4 inch from end of tail. -
Step 2
2. Turn the hook upwards toward the crawfish's back and reinsert the hook back thru the head or back depending on the length of hook and embed hook by pulling back slightly on the hook and embed the hook under the plastic back.
-
Step 3
3. Add splitshot to bottom of hook to keep crawfish righted during retrieve.
-
Step 4
4. Cast near grass and rocks where crawfish live, let crawfish settle to bottom or rest on grass, On bottom, retrieve very very slowly with occasional slight jerks that will make the claws wave in defence; on grass: give slight jerks to make bait walk on grass. When bass take the bait, they will usually start swallowing the bait as they go. Let them run before setting hook. Wait to long -they swallow it, to soon and you pull it out of their mouth. Try under shade trees in the middle of the day during the summer
