Step1
To my knowledge there are a great deal of ways to go about achieving car advertisements, which I will outline generally in this first step:
A. Having a company provide you with a vehicle that already has advertisements in place.
B. Already owning a car (ideally an attractive one) and making a deal with a company that wants to put their advertisements all over your car.
C. Making a business out of your vehicle and selling the ad space yourself (while this method requires more work, it can be more lucrative.)
Decide which method suits you best, and don't rule out 'C' (selling ads yourself) simply because it requires more work, as this is typically the only method that allows for growth, the other methods usually have strict requirements preventing any other advertisements on the vehicle.
Step2
A: Having a company provide you with a vehicle already covered in advertisements.
To do this, you will need to do A LOT of searching most likely on the internet. Do as much research as you can, look on search engines, click on ads, there are some web sites or communities dedicated to this field, Additionally, you might try checking out the web sites of major companies to see if they currently offer such advertising opportunities in your area. If so, contact them and express interest in their opportunity. Try to present yourself professionally, and sell yourself well. These companies are likely wanting individuals who do a lot of driving or travelling. Going to car shows or other large events is, of course, an added bonus as that means more exposure for that particular company. Those who live in highly populated cities are more likely to have success with this method.
Step3
B: Already owning a car and striking a single company advertising deal that usually covers the majority of your car.
This method is often more attractive to an advertiser mainly because it is cheaper for them than providing you with a car. For the most part, the same steps to achieving this apply. Contacting companies, looking for opportunities, etc. However, in this method, selling yourself is even more important. You should provide attractive pictures of your car to increase your chances of success! Again, be as professional and intelligent as possible when contacting a company.
Step4
And Finally....
C: Making Car advertising your own business and selling your own ads.
This one is a lot more work, but can be a great investment of both time and money. Unless you have enough start-up capital -you may need to take out a loan. Also, familiarize yourself with both your local and state laws to avoid legal conflicts. You will need to have an attractive and dependable car, and the time to do a lot of driving. As you will most likely be operating as a business, you may need proper licensing to do so (such as a business license) You also may want to form a limited liability corporation to protect yourself and your assets.
How you decide to go about this is your decision, however I recommend the following:
- Have a tight advertising contract agreement drawn up (preferably by a qualified legal professional -however in the interest of saving money you may choose to alternatively research this topic on the internet or at a library.) This contract should act in a similar manner to a lease agreement in that it specifies guidelines regarding location, size, duration, content, and cost.
-You may wish to hire a salesman (often paid by commission per sale or for the duration of the deal) A good salesman should not be taken for granted, as they are more likely to have a great deal more connections and skills in getting space on your car sold.
-to further streamline this process you should take pictures of your car and map out available space and provide such an outline to your salesman or to whomever you are offering your advertising services.
-you would be wise to advertise your service everywhere you can, especially on your car. Include contact information and ideally a website. You can also advertise in local newspapers, or magazines (while more expensive, adding a picture can help a great deal) or even on a local television station if your budget allows it.
-Good insurance. Better safe than sorry, enough said.
-Drive and travel as often as you can. Try to make your car both visible and familiar.
-Save your receipts and keep an expense account. Be prepared for your taxes -save more than enough to cover such expenses in an interest bearing savings account, this way you'll be prepared and make some extra money in interest in doing so.
If you run out of advertising space on the car and decide it is profitable enough; you may wish to expand and reinvest in another vehicle and have a friend or family member drive it!
Step5
I'm sure I'm forgetting things and there are a lot more ways to go about achieving this, if anyone has any suggestions -feel free to leave a comment!
I hope this helps and wish all interested the best of luck!!!!
