Wow is this even possible and answer is Yes you can convert your computer into T.V. just by adding little device which is much cheaper than Tv . You can switch to T.V. and then back to the computer also will have remote control and all ordinary tv and computer can get ,even recording shows. That device comes in two types and have different advantages and cons go and explore ,T.V Plus Computer world .

Step 1

This is how it will work you add device into computer (see resources) in which you can plug Tv cable and will watch tv on your monitor while having control over computer , Watching tv will be same as it can be on ordinary computer ,also can save money lets say you have good LCD monitor and want to avoid buying whole new TV which you can by adding Tv card.

there are two types of Tv card although have different specifications but tv cards come in two types one is internal which you will install inside computer casing and other on is external ,obviously , outside computer .
