A feather boa is a fun accessory to have for bachelorettes at a bachelorette party. When choosing a feather boa, there are a number of details you need to know, including the type of boa, the colors available, the length and where to buy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a type of feather that you want the boa to be made of. Turkey feathers are one of the most common, although ostrich and marabou, as well as several other types of feathers, are also commonly used. If the bachelorette or anyone in the wedding party is opposed to the use of animal feathers, you can also find "vegan" feather boas made from synthetic materials.

  2. Step 2

Pick a weight for the feather boa. Boa weight is measured in grams, ranging from 40 grams at the lightest to 120 grams or more on the heavy end. For a party, you'll probably want a lighter boa rather than one designed for maximum coverage and warmth.

  3. Step 3

Choose a boa length. Most feather boas are 6 feet in length, but some costume boas or party boas made cheaply or for kids may be 4 feet or less.

  4. Step 4

Choose a color for the feather boa. Feather boas come in solid colors (both pastel and vivid), natural hues and multicolor with two or three colors on one boa. Choose colors that coordinate with the party theme or pick a base color for the boa and add other accessories (like beads or hats) to coordinate.

  5. Step 5

Purchase feather boas online, at a costume shop or at a party retailer. If you want to purchase boas for all the wedding party and get the bachelorette bride-to-be a special boa to make her stand out, you can buy in bulk from a party wholesaler.
