Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Glue or double-stick tape
- Glitter or microbeads
- Patterned paper
- Paint and paintbrush
- Craft chalk
- Rubber stamps and ink
- Hole punch
- Ribbon or lace
- Charms
- Jump rings
- Adhesive dots
- Embellishments
Step1
Add sparkle by applying glitter or microbeads around the edges. Create a straight or wavy border with glue and sprinkle it with colored glitter like hot pink for bachelorette parties, silver for weddings and school colors for graduation invitations, for example. For less mess, add a line of double-stick tape around the edges and press it into a tray of glitter or beads.
Step2
Create a decorative background before adding the text to the front of the invitation. Use pretty patterned paper, a swipe of vibrant paint applied with a dry brush, swirls of craft chalk or images added with a large background stamp. (See Resources.)
Step3
Punch holes along the bottom of the invitations and weave a strip of lace, ribbon or contrasting card stock through the openings. You can also tie bows through the holes or add metal charms with jump rings.
Step4
Use adhesive dots to add dimensional embellishments that suit the theme of the event. Try charms shaped like champagne glasses for bachelorette parties, pastel buttons for baby showers or chipboard hearts for Valentine's Day events.
