Cheerleaders are responsible for raising team spirit during various types of games and sports events. Cheerleaders use various combinations of moves to choreograph their dances and cheers. Almost all cheer squads use the low "V" in their routines. The low "V" is a specialized movement designed for the arms. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand with your feet shoulders' width apart, back straight and hands behind your back. This is the "ready" position in cheerleading.

  2. Step 2

Get into the high "V" position. Raise your arms above your head at a slightly forward angle, in the shape of a "V". Your hands are in fists with thumbs pointing to the back. Your arms are at a 45-degree angle.

  3. Step 3

Rotate your shoulders down and push your arms to the floor. Your thumbs need to face the front. Keep the angle and stiffness of the arms as you rotate them downward.

  4. Step 4

Pull your arms in to your stomach, if you have a couple inches between your hands, you are in the right place.

  5. Step 5

Put one fist on your waist to do a right or left low "V". In cheerleading, always keep your elbows pointing outward.

  6. Step 6

Practice the low "V" with both hands and with single hands in order to master this cheerleading move.

Tips & Warnings
  • To do a broken or half low "V" start from your shoulders. These moves can be done with either or both arms.
  • Stretch before practicing and performing the low "V."
