Instructions

Note Substitutions at the Bottom of the Scorecard

  1. Step 1

Add the new player's name to the bottom of the roster. List the player's number, name and the position for which he's substituting. Use the conventional shorthand for numbering the positions.

  2. Step 2

Note the number of the inning in which the substitution occurs in the box directly underneath the position box.

  3. Step 3

Shade a triangle in the top right corner of the inning box if the substitution occurs in the top of the inning. Darken a triangle in the lower left corner of the inning box if the substitution occurs in the bottom of the inning.

  4. Step 4

Record the reason for the substitution on the line directly below the player's name. Use "PH" to denote pinch hitter and "PR" for pinch runner.

  5. Note Substitutions Directly Into the Line-Up

  6. Step 1

Write the name, number and position on the line directly below the player being substituted.

  7. Step 2

Draw a vertical line to the left side of the at bat box when there's a hitting substitution. This will record the inning that the substitution occurred.

  8. Step 3

Draw a solid horizontal line at the top of the at bat box of the first hitter to face a new pitcher.
