When the temperature starts to drop and snow begins to fall from the sky, sports enthusiasts turn their attention to the wonderful world of winter sports. One of the main sports is snowboarding. And if you're into snowboarding, then you know it's all about the tricks. Here's how to do a cool trick called "shifties" on your snowboard.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Snowboard
  • Snow covered ramp or mogul to jump off
Step1
Build a moderate amount of speed as you head toward the ramp or mogul. Because you need to jump off the ramp, you will need some momentum to help carry you through the air. Just don't build up too much speed on your snowboard so that you are out of control.
Step2
Jump off the ramp or mogul as you approach the end. Your body will naturally react, as it will want to leap rather than fall. Make sure when you jump that you raise your knees a bit, so that you don't catch anything right at the end of the ramp.
Step3
Perform your shifties by twisting your body so that your backside faces forward for a split second. Think of twisting your body. Then return to your original direction by twisting back to complete your shifties.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you love winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, invest in a season pass at your favorite mountain. If you go more than four or five times in a season, it will save you a lot of money.
