Step 1
Determine whether you are "right-footed" or "left-footed" by performing this test: have a friend push you from behind lightly while you are facing away from them with your feet side by side. Whatever foot you put out to catch yourself, determines which foot is your dominate foot.
-
Step 2
Put the pedal on whatever side your dominate foot goes all the way down to the ground so that the pedal is parallel to the ground.
-
Step 3
Place your dominate foot onto the pedal and steady the bike. Pull the post back toward you and sit on the seat of the unicycle.
-
Step 4
Use a chair or a wall or anything tall enough and hold onto it to balance yourself and steady the bike, especially if this is your first time getting onto the unicycle.
-
Step 5
Pull your body weight onto the unicycle while bringing the post upright. Make sure to hold onto the chair or wall to maintain your balance as you do so.
-
Step 6
Swing your non-dominant foot onto the pedal on the other side of the unicycle as you pull your weight up. Now you are up on the unicycle and ready to go.
