How to Catch and Hit With Nunchucks

Nunchucks have been as weapons for hundreds of years. The style and moves of nunchucks has evolved over generations. Nowadays, nunchucks are mostly used in single person or team competitions. The catch and hit is a move designed for show in a completion or demonstration setting.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two pair of nunchucks
  1. Step 1

    Place one pair of nunchucks in each hand and get set in the ready position. You will start this move will L strikes. Get ready to start the double L strikes.

  2. Step 2

    Do L strikes alternating hands start with your right arm moving to your left hip and across to your right hip. Then move your left arm to your right hip and back across to the left hip. Do not swing the nunchucks back into ready position.

  3. Step 3

    Raise your left arm up and catch the nunchucks horizontally in your hand. Release your grip as the second chuck comes up and close your hand around both sides of the nunchucks.

  4. Step 4

    Swing you right arm up and hit the side you are holding against the other pair of nunchucks, so that the free side will flip over the chucks. Step on to your toe or back when they hit to add emphasis to the move. Flip your right hand back and move it to your right side at chest level. Catch the nunchucks as the come around.

  5. Step 5

    Practice this move to get the catches timed right and the speed built up.
