Nunchucks were used as wheat and rice thrashers in ancient China and Japan. When people realized they could do damage when used as a weapon, martial arts masters began studying and fighting with them. Strikes are offensive moves with nunchucks. The L strike hits the opponent diagonally across their body and then across their waist.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two pairs of nunchucks
  1. Step 1

Set up in ready position with the right arm holding the nunchucks swung over the right shoulder. Your hand is a thumb's length from the chain or rope of the nunchucks.

  2. Step 2

Pull your right arm down and across the body to the left hip. Swing the loose nunchucks around your back.

  3. Step 3

Move your arm across your waist to the right hip. Allow the nunchucks to swing around your body.

  4. Step 4

Bend your elbow and pull the arm back into ready position or catch the nunchucks. Choose the ending right for your routine.

  5. Step 5

Move your body with the nunchucks. Turn with the swing or the nunchucks will hit you in the back or shoulder. Practice with your right hand until you get the move up to speed.

  6. Step 6

Place the second pair of nunchucks in your left hand and throw it over your left shoulder. Perform Steps 2 through 4 with your left hand, going to the right hip first.

  7. Step 7

Alternate sides. Do the right L strike and then the left L strike. Remember to move with the nunchucks to avoid injury.
