Nunchucks are ancient farming tools also used as weapons in martial arts. Nunchucks were designed to beat rice and wheat. Today, nunchucks are used in martial arts competitions. The X wrist spin is a spin-strike combination often used in competition routines.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Get into ready position with your nunchuck swung over your right shoulder and your left hand by your face. Your left hand guards your face in case the nunchucks swing out too far.
Step2
Swing the nunchuck over the right shoulder and across your body to your left hip. Lift the nunchuck to your left shoulder and cross your body to the right hip. Once you get the X motion down, start doing small X's from side to side and in front of you. This is an X move.
Step3
Twist your wrist over while doing an X move. This forces the nunchuck over your hand.
Step4
Release your grip and allow the nunchuck to spin around your wrist once. Do this slowly at first and then build up speed. If you go too fast, your nunchuck may fly off and hit someone.
Step5
Catch one side of the nunchuck as it rotates and perform another X move.
Step6
Practice this combination: one X move, one spin, another X move and one last spin. When you get this down, speed up the combination and add different numbers of X's and spins. Do the move across your body, side-to-side and up and down. This gives you the freedom to add the combination anywhere in your martial arts routine.
