Nunchucks are an ancient martial arts weapons that use speed and wrist movements to hit opponents. Nunchucks are lightweight weapons and when used correctly they injure an opponent quickly and precisely. The L strike is a nunchuck move that hits an opponent across their upper body.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees slightly to create better balance.

  2. Step 2

Grasp one side of the nunchuck with the correct grip. The hand is one thumb length from the top of the nunchuck. Place the opposite hand in a fist beside your face to protect you if you lose control of the nunchuck.

  3. Step 3

Swing the nunchuck over the same shoulder as the hand holding the nunchuck. For example, if you have the nunchuck in your right hand, you swing it over your right shoulder. Do not swing too hard, or the nunchuck swings forward and hits your arm.

  4. Step 4

Extend your arm forward, flip your wrist and pull the nunchuck down and across your body to the opposite hip. Turn into the swing. If you do not twist at the waist the nunchuck hits you in the back. This is one strike movement.

  5. Step 5

Pull the nunchuck back across your waist to the beginning side. Turn with the chuck to avoid injury.

  6. Step 6

Swing the chuck back over your shoulder to end the move.

  7. Step 7

Practice this slowly and speed it up as you get more confident. Change hands and variations to the footwork to spice up the move.
