Weapons are often used in various forms of martial arts. Nunchucks are made of two sticks linked together with chain or rope. Nunchucks are popular weapons because of their speed and style. The helicopter spin is basic nunchuck move that adds flash and style to a routine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hold one side of the nunchuck in your hand with your arm down by your side. Your hand needs to be one thumb's length from the top of the nunchuck with your thumb pointing toward the chain or rope.

  2. Step 2

Pull your arm up over your head. As you pull your hand up, it becomes flat with your thumb to the side. This is one quick movement that helps build speed.

  3. Step 3

Swing your wrist around like a helicopter blade when your hand is above your head. The nunchucks look like one solid slick in the turn.

  4. Step 4

Cross your body with the nunchucks and end with a swing at the opposite hip from the hand the nunchucks are in.

  5. Step 5

When you get the basic move down, spin your body in a circle with the nunchucks to add some flare. Step in the direction of the nunchuck and swing your body in a full circle. Do not jump into the spin.

  6. Step 6

Add variations to the helicopter. Do the move on one or both knees. Try it on your feet and drop to one knee as you spin. Create your own style.

  7. Step 7

Practice the helicopter nunchuck move in front of a mirror to examine your arm and leg movements.
