One weapon used in martial arts is the nunchuck. It is made of two sticks or handles connected together with a chain or rope. Martial artist who use nunchucks must be able to move their hands quickly and think fast. Many nunchuck moves like the side to side wrist spin enhance the look of other moves.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn to do a basic wrist spin. Hold one side of the nunchuck at chest height and swing the other side over your wrist. Release the nunchuck as it spins and grab the other side.

  2. Step 2

Build up momentum for the spin. The side to side spin needs momentum or the weapon drops to the ground. Hold one side of the nunchuck and swing it across your body at your waist. Swing back and forth two to four times to build up speed.

  3. Step 3

Twist your hand as you cross your body to force the nunchuck to flip over your wrist. The first few times you try this the nunchucks will slide off.

  4. Step 4

Release the nunchuck when your thumb faces up. Turn your wrist and grab the other side of the nunchuck as it moves across your body. When timed correctly, you should be able to do two to three wrist spins from one side of your body to the other.

  5. Step 5

Change hands and repeat the process with the other hand. Some martial artists are not able to do both left and right side to side wrist spins. If you can not do both sides, stay with your stronger hand.

  6. Step 6

Practice at slower speeds until you can do the move without looking at your hands.
