If you want to spice up your exercise routing, try working out with elastic tubes. Doing your regular exercises with tubing increases the resistance, giving you a more challenging workout. Hip extensions strengthen and firm your bottom. Perform them using an exercise tube to make your backside look awesome.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Exercise tube
  1. Step 1

Pick up your tube, placing a handle in each hand.

  2. Step 2

Place the tube on the ground so that you can step on it.

  3. Step 3

Step in the middle of the tube with both feet and then spread your feet a shoulder distance apart with your toes pointing forward. The tube should be under the middle of each foot.

  4. Step 4

Hold the handles down at your side, at your waist or up at your shoulders, depending on how much resistance you want.

  5. Step 5

Raise your right leg directly up and back down by contracting your gluteal muscles. Keep your foot flexed to prevent the tube from slipping off. Your upper body remains still as you raise your leg.

  6. Step 6

Lower your right leg to its starting position and then switch legs and repeat the exercise with your left leg.

  7. Step 7

Repeat the exercise until you have done eight lifts with each leg.

  8. Step 8

Build up to three sets of eight lifts on each leg. Once you can easily do that, move up to a firmer exercise tube.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy an exercise extension tube with handles at most sporting goods stores, online at numerous health and fitness websites, or even at Amazon. See link in Resources.
  • Move slowly, contracting your gluteus muscles as you lift and lower. Use your glutes to raise and lower your leg. The slower you move the better.
  • Check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
