Using a fuse or hemming tape is a great way to close the opening in a simple pillow. All you need is a length of fuse tape and an iron to seal your stuffing into your pillow cover with a neat edge. This is a great tool for beginners or anyone who doesn't want a hand stitched seam along one corner of their pillow.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take the pillow that you have sewn and stuffed with a polyester filling. You will have a corner that you used to turn the pillow inside out and used to stuff the pillow.

  2. Step 2

Fold in the edges of the opening so that you have a clean seam to use the fuse tape on.

  3. Step 3

Take your length of fuse tape and roughly measure the length of the opening with the tape.

  4. Step 4

Use scissors to cut the length of fuse tape that you are going to need. It doesn't need to be exact just roughly the length of the opening.

  5. Step 5

Slip the tape in the opening of the pillow. Make sure that the edges of the fabric are folded down and are closely even to the seam that you made when stitching the two sides of the pillow together.

  6. Step 6

Lay the pillow flat on a surface that you can iron on. Cover the pillow with a towel.

  7. Step 7

Use the iron to heat up the fuse tape and seal the pillow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always check the instructions on the fusing tape that you are using to determine how hot and how long to iron the tape in order to activate it.
