A personalized serving tray is a great addition to any party. It can also make a great housewarming or shower gift. Creating an artistic food tray allows you to really show off your style and taste.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wooden food tray
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Pencil
  • Craft water sealant spray
  • Knobs
  1. Step 1

Apply a base coat of paint to the entire tray and allow it to dry. This will help your colors to stand out and ensures that your paint will show up. If you opt for a natural base color you may skip this step.

  2. Step 2

Draw a design on the inside of the tray with a pencil. You may use a folk art pattern or create something entirely your own. If you prefer a simpler tray you may simply choose to paint the inside one color and the outside a complimentary color.

  3. Step 3

Paint your design onto the wooden tray. You may need to apply two coats if the colors are not showing very well.

  4. Step 4

Allow the paint to dry completely. Once you have done this you should spray it with a water sealer or use varnish to seal and protect your tray.

  5. Step 5

Personalize the food tray by adding knobs to the bottom the tray. This will allow the tray to stand higher on a surface.

Tips & Warnings
  • Allow time for the paint to dry completely between steps this will help the end result to avoid smudges and other messy finger tips.
  • Paint the inside and then the outside of the tray. This will make the process easier.
