Every great work of art starts with an inspiration. Transforming the concept into something tangible requires planning. Your polymer clay necklace will achieve your goals if you invest time in creating a solid design.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Polymer clay
  1. Step 1

Think about how you want your necklace to look and choose the type of beads you want to work with, and then sketch the necklace. It does not have to depict the finished product, so just sketch out the basic shape.

  2. Step 2

Consider the shape of the pendant you want for the middle of the necklace. Draw it from the front view and add any crystals or other embellishments. Make multiple drawings of the pendant in different versions to see which you favor most.

  3. Step 3

Sketh a side view of the pendant. Draw it so that the clay flips over the top of the pendant to form the hole that you will thread your string or wire through.

  4. Step 4

Choose the colors for your necklace. Color in your sketch to visualize the piece and see whether the hues you've chosen clash with each other.
