How to Pick Soy Candle Jars

Making your own soy candles saves money and allows you to personalize the candle with your own colors, scents and containers. Soy candles must be in a container since they liquify when burning. You can change the look of the candle by choosing a jar that fits your decor or style.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a glass or metal container for your soy candle. Don't use plastic because it may melt with the intense heat of the burning wick and liquid wax. Visit a craft or discount store and look for vases, wine glasses and tins.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether you want lids or no lids with your candles. If you choose a jar with a lid you can easily close the candle to hide the scent, but if your container is open you can always see and smell the candle and can use it as more of a focal point in your room.

  3. Step 3

Consider using recycled products such as an old tea cup and saucer or a glass drink bottle. Turn things you'd normally throw away into a crazy, unique collection of recycled soy candles.

  4. Step 4

Think about the specific shapes and designs you want your candle jars to be--glass and metal containers come in many sizes and styles. Choose the containers that fit your personal style, looking at jars with detailing, curves, colors and charm.

  5. Step 5

Clean and dry your container before using it to make a soy candle. Keep it at room temperature--there is no need to heat it before you pour soy wax into it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add your own labels with a personal logo. If you give away or sell the soy candles you want everyone to know who designed and created them.
