A shadowbox is a type of diorama with a scene inside. You can tell a story and preserve memorabilia with shadowbox frames. The box should be balanced and revolve around a particular theme, and it should showcase the treasure inside.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tell a story with shadowbox frames to recall an event, honor a person or commemorate the service of a military person or public servant. Make special holiday boxes to decorate your walls in the spirit of the season.

  2. Step 2

Get to know the recipient of the box either personally or through information from other people. Become familiar with the meaning and message the contents of the box will convey.

  3. Step 3

Go to hobby shops and choose items to tell a story with shadowbox frames. Incorporate personal items such as artwork, antiques, memorabilia, medals, awards, patches, toys, postcards, photos and jewelry into the display.

  4. Step 4

Display the material in an appropriate manner. This is especially important to a military collection display.

  5. Step 5

Balance the materials inside of the box and display them in a way that will highlight the collection. Arrange your collection of sports items, belt buckles, pins, figurines, cars, lighters or items from your travels.

  6. Step 6

Keep the number of items you display to a minimum to emphasize the part of the story each item tells.

  7. Step 7

Choose unique shadowbox frames to tell a story. The frames should compliment the stories and contribute to making the boxes cherished wall decorations.
