Create the perfect sized pillow for your child's favorite doll. Add pretty trim of matching pieces of fabric to make a blanket. If there's more fabric left over, stitch up a small carrying case for the blanket and pillow.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Press the fabric for the doll pillow so that it is smooth and wrinkle-free.

  2. Step 2

Determine the finished size of the pillow. Cut out two rectangles from a double thickness of fabric. Add 5/8 inch all around (1 1/4 inches to the length and width) for the seam allowance.

  3. Step 3

Place the fabric rectangles right sides together and pin them around all four sides. Sew down one side of the rectangle, beginning with a backstitch.

  4. Step 4

Sew to the corner and drop the needle down into the fabric. Raise the presser foot. Turn the fabric 90 degrees, drop the presser foot and continue to sewing. Backstitch a few stitches over the corner.

  5. Step 5

Continue around three sides of the rectangle, stopping at each corner as described in Step 4. Sew only halfway across the fourth side of the pillow. Backstitch and clip the threads.

  6. Step 6

Trim the seams to 1/4 inch and clip the corners. Turn the pillow right side out. Fold in the seam allowance across the opening and press it with the iron.

  7. Step 7

Stuff the pillow with fiberfill. Use small amounts and work it into the corners first. Pin the opening closed when the pillow is stuffed full. Use a needle and thread to close the opening.
