Avon is known for its cosmetics line, but the company once manufactured glass and ceramic pieces. Many of the products came in decorative glass bottles or ceramic containers shaped like figures. Some of these trinkets are highly sought after by antique collectors. To collect imported Avon products you need to keep your eyes open and know what you like.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit antiques stores and trade shows to see the different products that Avon made over the years. This will help you decide what you like and what you would want to buy.

  2. Step 2

Invest in an Avon collectibles book. Several books out there provide information on the different imported items and reveal what those items are worth today.

  3. Step 3

Join an Avon collectors group. There are a variety of collectors groups, including some devoted to one specific product. You can learn more by talking with other collectors and looking at their collections.

  4. Step 4

Keep your eyes peeled for imported Avon pieces at all times because you never know when you might come across one. They frequently appear at yard sales, estate sales and in auctions.

  5. Step 5

Check for a date on the item itself or on its packaging. Avon began dating items during the 1980s but often dated older pieces on the box.

  6. Step 6

Look for the Avon label on the bottom of the piece. The company has placed its own label on the bottom of all its products since it first started marketing.

  7. Step 7

Research the foreign words on the label or bottom to discover exactly where the piece originated. Uncovering what the wording says will help you identify the item and discover what it is worth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not collect any imported products that are damaged, missing a label or have a missing lid or cap. These pieces are virtually worthless because they aren't in good condition.
