Things You'll Need:
- Cutting board
- Chef's knife
- Pineapple knife
-
Step 1
Lay your whole pineapple on its side on your cutting board.
-
Step 2
Remove the top and bottom of the pineapple with your chef's knife. Hold the pineapple as you cut through so that it does not roll away from you.
-
Step 3
Stand the pineapple upright on your cutting board and trim the skin from it. Use a pineapple knife with its thin, serrated curved blade. Work the knife from top to bottom to remove the skin in strips. Cut close to the flesh of the pineapple so you leave as much fruit as possible. Repeat until you have removed the entire skin from the pineapple.
-
Step 4
Examine the pineapple to see if any thicker pieces of skin remain imbedded in the fruit. Additional skin removal is normal after your first pass.
-
Step 5
Cut the pineapple into chunks and marinate it according to your recipe. Hawaiian Pork is traditionally served on skewers, so your pineapple chunks should be roughly the same size as your pork chunks.
