The perfect complement to a salmon dish is rice. There are so many different types of rice from which to choose, including Thai jasmine rice. Jasmine rice is aromatic and has a slightly sweet taste, offering balance to any fish dish that uses a salty or sour sauce.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Jasmine rice
  • Large pot with lid
  1. Step 1

Measure one cup of rice for each person. Using a strainer, run cold water over your rice to remove any excess starch. Stir as you rinse because the rice tends to clump together.

  2. Step 2

Drain the rice. Set the rice to the side while still in the strainer to allow the excess water to drain off.

  3. Step 3

Add water to the rice pot. Use equal parts rice to water when cooking jasmine rice. So, if you have 4 cups of rice, use 4 cups of water.

  4. Step 4

Put the rinsed rice in the rice pot with the water. Cover and cook the rice over medium-high heat for 12 to 15 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check the rice after ten minutes to ensure it doesn't burn. Cooking times vary by stoves.
  • Keep an eye on the heat. If your stove burns hot, turn the heat down to medium-low so the rice doesn't burn.
