Pork roast can be cooked in a variety of sauces from tangy barbecue to an exotic Asian glaze. Pork cooks quickly, making it perfect for a busy midweek meal. This presentation is for an Asian inspired pork loin served with cheesy mashed potatoes and peas sautéed with onions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cook the pork roast at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature as measured with a meat thermometer is 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Step 2

Remove the pork roast from the oven, and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. This lets the juices distribute through the meat, keeping it tender and moist. If you cut into a pork loin right out of the oven, it ends up tough and dry.

  3. Step 3

Slice the pork roast at an angle. Each slice should be about a quarter inch in thickness.

  4. Step 4

Scoop some cheesy mashed potatoes onto the center of the plate. Spoon some peas with sautéed onions next to the potatoes.

  5. Step 5

Arrange three slices of pork across the top of the mashed potatoes and peas. Drizzle with some of the extra sauce and sprinkle with some fresh parsley.

  6. Step 6

Accompany this delicious gourmet pork roast with a crisp white wine of sweet zinfandel and some bakery quality bread.

Tips & Warnings
  • Substitute pork chops for the pork roast and grill with the Asian sauce for an easy summer dinner.
  • Pork should be cooked until it reads between 160 to 170 degrees on a meat thermometer.
