You love omelettes at your favorite breakfast place. Or you have someone joining you for breakfast that you want to impress. You know how to beat the eggs and you know how to choose ingredients, but you don't know how to flip the omelette so it doesn't land on the ground.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a pan with a nonstick coating, such as Teflon. This will cut your time in half and prevent the omelette from sticking. Lightly coat the pan with olive oil or butter to flavor the omelette. If you use a pan without a nonstick surface, use more oil or butter.

  2. Step 2

Put the pan on a burner set on medium-low. Whisk your eggs and pour them into your pan.

  3. Step 3

Add your ingredients, such as cheese, ham, scallions, bacon, tomatoes or smoked salmon.

  4. Step 4

Use a spatula and push the edges of the eggs in so the top part will flow onto the hot part of the pan and cook.

  5. Step 5

Flip your omelette using a wrist motion. It's a a vertical circular motion.

  6. Step 6

Practice a few times before you use half-cooked eggs. Many cooks when learning how to flip an omelette, will flip a bread slice a whole bunch of times.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can't flip the omelette using just your wrist, many people will use a spatula to flip an omelette.
