Step 1
Use a pan with a nonstick coating, such as Teflon. This will cut your time in half and prevent the omelette from sticking. Lightly coat the pan with olive oil or butter to flavor the omelette. If you use a pan without a nonstick surface, use more oil or butter.
-
Step 2
Put the pan on a burner set on medium-low. Whisk your eggs and pour them into your pan.
-
Step 3
Add your ingredients, such as cheese, ham, scallions, bacon, tomatoes or smoked salmon.
-
Step 4
Use a spatula and push the edges of the eggs in so the top part will flow onto the hot part of the pan and cook.
-
Step 5
Flip your omelette using a wrist motion. It's a a vertical circular motion.
-
Step 6
Practice a few times before you use half-cooked eggs. Many cooks when learning how to flip an omelette, will flip a bread slice a whole bunch of times.
