For lovers of creamy coffee drinks, a layered mocha latte is a wonderful treat for a relaxing evening. The sweetness of the chocolate topped off with the creamy milk offsets the bitter espresso. Add an alcoholic surprise, take your layered mocha latte on the porch and watch the stress of the day melt away.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a shot or two of espresso using a stovetop espresso maker or use a standard coffee maker with dark roast espresso beans instead of traditional coffee.

  2. Step 2

Steam milk on the stove or with a cappuccino maker. Boil milk on the stove if you don't have a steamer and whip it until it becomes slightly frothy.

  3. Step 3

Pour the milk in a glass coffee cup and top it off with a thin layer of foam. Only fill the cup about two-thirds unless you need more room for a double shot of espresso.

  4. Step 4

Slowly pour some chocolate into the center of the foamy milk. The chocolate should fall to the bottom of the mug rather than mix with the milk.

  5. Step 5

Add an optional liquor in the same manner that you added the chocolate, pouring slowly through the center of the milk.

  6. Step 6

Add the espresso shot to the mug. Pour in circular motions slowly so that the espresso doesn't disturb the milky layer. The coffee should reach all the way to the chocolate, but leave a small layer of milk between the two.

  7. Step 7

Serve the layered mocha latte with a dollop of whipped cream and a spoon.
